Algés Seafront Promenade

The Seafront Promenade is one of the most popular spots in the Oeiras council, extending a total of 5.8 kms, perfect for running, cycling or simply strolling, to enjoy fantastic views, bathed by the river and the sea.

Adventure Park

Also in this area is the Adventure Park, which has several extreme sports, such as tree climbing. It is an outdoor activity for children, families, birthday parties, bachelor parties, group activities with friends, field trips, company parties and team building. 

Cervejaria O Relento

Nearby, you will find the mythical seafood restaurant and brewery O Relento, which reopened with the well-known Prego do Lombo and an always full house, on Avenida Combatentes da Grande Guerra. Nothing has changed in its menu and space - they just returned to the pre-pandemic capacity. 

 

 

Mercado de Algés

Refurbished in 2015, this is the perfect place to eat at any time of the day. Mercado de Algés has several food outlets, such as Notalho Steakhouse, which brings together hamburgers from the brother Notalho Burger and the best meats from the Steakhouse; or the Sai Fish fish and seafood restaurant. For dessert, you will find Artisani ice cream there.

 

Lisbon Helicopters

If you'd like to see the city from a different perspective, you can head over to Lisbon Helicopters, where you will find several helicopter tours that depart from Algés, with various routes, prices and durations.

Main Beaches

Living closer to the coastline has the privelege of having access to the well-known beaches along the Cascais line. This is the case of Carcavelos and Caxias beach, which have an extensive stretch of sand for families to be able to eat the typical bolas de Berlin.

 

Dafundo Recreational Union

Located at Rua 1º de Maio 12b, beside Turquesa, the União Recreativa do Dafundo offers facilities for various sports and recreational activities. Aimed for gymnastics and fitness, the club has a team of fully qualified trainers.

National Stadium – Jamor Park

For sports lovers, the Jamor sports complex is ideal to enjoy physical exercise. Situated in a pleasant green park with a rich vegetation that welcomes walks or sports activities. There are various sports options available: swimming, tennis, golf, rowing, cycling and a fitness circuit, all just 5 minutes from Dafundo.

The Champalimaud Foundation celebrates the legacy of a visionary who gave Portugal an institution whose purpose is to make the world a better place. A centre with advanced research programs and a remarkable architectural landmark.

Spanish Institute

With a history that dates back almost a century, the Instituto Español Giner de los Ríos is a leading international school that provides every schooling level and also offers Spanish courses for all ages.

Discoveries Monument & Tower of Belém

The Padrão dos Descobrimentos is one of Lisbon’s most iconic monuments, created to honour all of the figures involved in the Portuguese discoveries.

Belém Cultural Centre

The CCB (Centro Cultural de Belém) is one of Lisbon’s most interesting cultural spaces. It includes several auditoriums, exhibition rooms, concert programs and an irreverent modern art collection at the Berardo Museum.

Jerónimos Monastery

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this Manueline-style monastery was built to celebrate Vasco da Gama’s return from his journey to India.

MAAT

The Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology is just 10 minutes from Dafundo. Located beside the Tagus River, this is a space for cultural discovery and debate that has become one of the most iconic places in the city of Lisbon. The rooftop merges with the landscape, while offering views of the city and the Tagus River.

Vasco da Gama Aquarium

Located in Dafundo, the Vasco da Gama Aquarium is known for highlighting the diversity of the marine fauna found in Continental Portugal and the Madeira and Azores archipelagos. It offers a portrait of Portugal’s glorious past and preserves more than 200 species in small aquariums.
